How to make Green Tea
Did you know that there are over 3000 different types of teas around the world? Of these 3000+ types, we can sort them into six common categories: Green, Black, Oolong, White, Pu-erh, and Herbal.
Green tea is well-known for its health benefits. It has been shown to be rich with antioxidants and nutrients and may help with weight-loss, improve skin health, and more.
Green tea also boasts a distinct flavor, but when brewed incorrectly can taste bitter and unpleasant. This is most likely due to the leaves being burned in the brewing process by the boiling water. To remedy this common issue, and create a better tasting cup of green tea, simply follow Tetley's 80:80 rule:
- 80 degrees – Steep your green tea bag or leaves in 80-degree water, don’t boil it. The best way to do this is by stopping the kettle before it reaches the boiling point. Another method to do this is by letting the water reach its boiling point and then add a splash (one tablespoon) of cold water to it before placing the tea bag.
- 80 seconds – Steep your green tea bags for a maximum of 80 seconds, if you want to enjoy all the benefits of green tea without the bitterness.
